Dear Friends,
It’s so hard to believe it’s already August! Where did our summer go?! I must say I am definitely ready for a little cooler weather, but unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be enjoying any until closer to our fall event!
Our first general meeting of the year was a success! We enjoyed a tasty meal from “The Daily Deli” in Watkinsville and as always had fun catching up with friends. Sabrina Collins was our guest speaker and she did a fabulous job informing us about cancer insurance. Thank you to all the members and sustainers who were able to join us. And a very special thanks to all our “shuttle” drivers!
There is no general meeting in August, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t busy! We have lots to celebrate this month! Thursday, August 14th is especially packed with the “In Their Shoes” kick-off party and our first New Member meeting. We also ALL need to stay very hard at work helping with Special Funds and Silent Auction donations. Team work is the key to our success!

Ladies,
I have mailed out membership packets which included a calendar of events, a member form, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope. If you did not receive your packet, please let me know. I am using the membership forms to update our roster information in order for us to compile a complete and accurate directory. Dues are due now so please don’t let that responsibility slip by you.

Special funds are working hard towards the set 2008 goal. If you or some one you know would like to become a sponsor please contact me by email. I can email you the blank letter for possible sponsors along with the monetary and In-kind sponsor levels.

Fall Event Silent Auction

In Their Shoes Auxiliary Team
Currently, we have 12 members signed up to walk in the In Their Shoes event on November 8, 2008! How fantastic is that?! This means our team fundraising goal is…..$11,000! All of that money will stay within our community to help the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support uplift cancer patients and their families.
To meet this goal, we could use your help—please consider making a donation to the Athens Area Cancer Auxillary team. To donate, click on this link, print off the donation form and send it on in!
