A letter from the President
Dear Friends,
Preparing for the “In Their Walk” on Saturday has allowed me some time to reflect on why I joined the Auxiliary 6 years ago. Cancer has touched my life, just as it has many of yours. Some stories have happy endings and others unfortunately do not. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own little worlds and we forget how many lives we touch through the Auxiliary with every dollar we raise and every minute of community service we provide.
A few days ago I received an e-mail from Raegan Yeomans that really touched me and I wanted to share it with all of you. After you read it, I want you to all take a moment and pat yourself on the back. YOU are what make this organization so wonderful! We all need to celebrate our accomplishments as we approach our mid-year mark. We need to remember what an important role we play in the local fight against cancer. And we also need remember what cancer cannot do.
Best,
Kathryn Rodrigue, President
What Cancer Cannot Do
Cancer is so limited…
It cannot cripple Love
It cannot shatter Hope
It cannot corrode Faith
It cannot destroy Peace
It cannot kill Friendship
It cannot suppress Memories
It cannot silence Courage
It cannot invade the Soul
It cannot steal eternal Life
It cannot conquer the Spirit.
In Their Shoes
Come out this Saturday to support TEAM AACA at the 3rd Annual In Their Shoes Walk!
Auxiliary members & sustainers, the 3rd annual In Their Shoes walk is almost here!! We will be supporting a cheering station again this year, and would love to have your support! Some of you signed up at the last meeting, so please note the change in time. We are only needed for one time slot this year, which means we should have more voices to cheer!
Date: Saturday, November 8th
Time: 10:30am-1:15pm
Place: Corner of Prince/Doughtery & Pulaski (right by First Baptist Church)
Parking: You can park in the church parking lot, located behind the church
What to bring: chairs, music, pom-poms, and your cheering voices! (I know Sarah and the new members have also been working on signs!)
This cheering section will be seeing walkers after they’ve walked over 10 miles, so lots of encouragement and motivation will be greatly appreciated! If you know you can definitely make it, please email: holt.becky@gmail.com. However, don’t hesitate to show up the morning of even if you haven’t signed up in advance. The more the merrier!
TEAM AACA has raised $8000 and counting!!!

2. Tree Decorating at St. Marys Hospice House, 12/1 at 7 PM. We will
decorate with items we already have from past years and will need just a
few people to sign up to bring refreshments/drinks for the families!
3. Dinner for Camp Sunshine families at the Loran Smith Center; 12/18
530-730(ish). We will be providing dinner graciously donated by Kelly at
Weekday Gourmet for families attending the support group. Dinner begins
at 530 and support groups start at 630. We will need people who offered
to set up to arrive at the center at 5 for preparation. Jennifer who
works there said the families were very appreciative last year,
especially for those who stayed and listened in the support groups. We
will also be giving the items collected from the wish list at this time.
We also have a potential opportunity to decorate the oncology unit at ARMC. We will email you more details as we receive them about date, time. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and please feel free to email myself or Abby with any questions you may have!
